The history of Norwegian valuation reports
Valuation has been carried out in Norway for several centuries. There are several valuation reports on record for residential, agricultural and industrial properties dating back close to 500 years.

The organising of valuers in an independent organisation of valuation companies materialised in 1957. Throughout the last 50 years valuation of residential properties has become more and more common. Throughout the years more and more emphasis was placed on the technical side of the report.

State of repair reports thus became the natural extension of the traditional valuation reports, and in the 1990s this report was refined into a technical report that also addresses particular problems most commonly arising in connection with property (residential) transactions. This report is called Boligsalgsrapport – BSR (Home sellers report) equivalent to the Home sellers report available in the UK. The report has been designed to improve, but yet simplify, the flow of technical information to potential homebuyers.
