Certification of valuers

Lacking public regulation of the valuation business, NTF has introduced its own system for certification of valuers in Norway. NTF is now in the prosess of adapting to the international requirements of TEGoVA (Approved by TEGoVA and TEGoVA Professional Recognition (under development)). The certification system in Norway can be described as a "tier system", starting as a proxy, going on to temporary certificate and finally ordinary certificate.

Within real estate NTF certify valuers for the following areas:
  • Valuation of residential, single home, properties (required to deliver "Home sellers reports" - BSR)
  • State of repair of residential properties (required to deliver "Home sellers reports" - BSR)
  • Valuation of commercial properties
  • Valuation of agricultural properties
  • Property damage reporting for insurance purposes
  • 630 qualify for this certification process today
For the purpose of surveying and reporting in accordance with the requirements for "Home sellers reports" some 650 certified NTF-members are able to provide such reports throughout the country. These go through regular CPD and we are constantly trying to get signals from the market as to which qualities it expects form our valuers and which we therefore should put into our CPD program.

Home selling reports
An improvement of the certification system for "Home selling reports" has been developed and more than 150 valuers veill have passed those advanced tests already this year. It involves the well known independent certification bureau DNV "Veritas" and the certification of professional valuers making such reports will then be done in accordance with ISO 17024, a standard for certification of professional advisors.
